You know the festive season is well under way when hipster types start producing oh so hip Christmas videos, and it's our guilty pleasure to watch them.
One of the coolest festive videos this year so far has to be when Burlen Ltd's director, Jamie Burnett, heads out to fetch a Christmas tree... in his 1940 Chevy V8 Rat Rod.
UK based Burlen Ltd are of course the world’s only manufacturer of genuine SU (Skinners Union), AMAL and Zenith carburettors, with roots stretching way back to the early 1900s. This makes the Chevy the perfect vehicle to show off their skills.
Rat rods are an incredibly rare sight in the UK, you could say we find them a bit Marmite over here, but we have to say the grey weathered body and white-wall tyres on Burlen's effort is pretty cool.
The chopped body is mounted on a completely scratch-built custom chassis giving it a totally unique appearance, and the 6.3-litre 383 small block Chevy engine features a one-of-a-kind triple-downdraught SU carb set-up and custom-made open exhaust system... as you'll see in the video, it sounds incredible!
Jamie Burnett, Director at Burlen, said: “We had a fantastic day getting the Chevy out on the road, turning plenty of heads and making this truly incredible video for Christmas. The Rat Rod proved to be the perfect vehicle for picking out my Christmas tree and the heater got a good test too!. When you get behind the wheel, you simply can’t resist giving it a few revs– in fact, it would be rude not to! Our video brilliantly portrays just how cool a car this is and how versatile the SU Carburettor can be. Merry Christmas to all from all the team at Burlen!”
